all i want for christmas

is a gift certificate to Good Egg!

good egg is a beautiful shop in kensington market
267 Augusta, Toronto

it is a lifestyle shop, it is a kitchen boutique,
it is a book store--a bookstore for people who dont think they like books!
plus so much more

i stopped in one day, as i always do when im in the market
& got hyper for nick-knacks--the effect that this shop has on me

instead of splurging, i started a visual list

good egg is easily my favorite store in the GTA
and that's saying a lot!

this list is just the tip of the iceburg...

i thought of going to visit good egg again to expand it
but its already pretty big & beautiful

saying that, good egg is a one-stop-shop gift-shop for all ages
super cute kids stuff, amazing selection of gift cards, products in spectrums of colour

if you've stuck on what to get someone for christmas
go to good egg for inspiration or get them a gift certificate here!

grandma chair

here is a chair made by Bora Çakilkaya
which she has named 'the grandma chair'

inspired by grandmothers who spent their time knitting and sewing,
the grandma chair features various sized drawers
to store all the little supplies that come along with those hobbies

one of the back legs is longer than the other
to balance the weight of the top unit

i love the concept of this chair, and the design is neat,
but, knitting is an activity spent in one place for long periods of time,
and this chair doesn't look very comfortable

i would suggest a cozier design, a foot rest,
and a different paint job

pencil knit

while browsing urban outffiters the other day,
with no money to spend (i don't recommend it)
i saw a great knit pencil skirt
that i was convinced i could knit myself

after days of hunting, i've finally found
a pattern for a knit pencil skirt
that i could use my christmas yarn for

addicted

i've been knitting up a storm...christmas is coming!
...and many pre-chistmas birthdays.
here's mom's b-day socks, finished today:

lots of people ooh and ahh when they see me knitting socks, and they seem so impressed...but i know for a fact it is easier than it looks.  with a little effort and patience, you could teach yourself to do it too! i found a comprehensive website which has taught me most things i know about knitting: silvers sock class
there are easy instructions with great pictures to help you all along the way
i have used this very pattern (with a few personal modifications)
to knit over 50 pairs of socks over the past three years!
